Since no one else has answered you on list, I can at least answer the first part of
your question. There is a version of Oscar under development for Fedora (Core 2 I
believe), but I do not know what the status of that project is.
As far as the kernel is concerned, you should be able to use any kernel you want with
OSCAR. Certainly patching a 2.4 kernel shouldn't hurt anything. There is a step
under package configuration where you can specify that you want to use a particular
kernel instead of the distribution source code.
I have not done this myself, though, so I am not aware of any issues you should watch
for.
Can anyone else speak to the status of the Fedora port?

Hi guys!
New to the list with a quick question:
Has anyone here tried Fedora (any version) and Oscar? We have an
8-node cluster here and I'm a lil concerned about security (the master
has two NICs, one for the LAN and the other for the cluster). Right
now, it's running RedHat 9, which, IIRC came out in March '03. I'd
like to at least patch that kernel bug (the infamous c-script from
userland = dead box). But I'm not the admin of the box, and I don't
want to break her cluster? If this has already been hashed-over, I'd
appreciate a few links!
Thanks!
