Your suggestion worked! Now all the post install tests passed for me. Thanks a lot!!!

Hello Shiang-Tai,

I think the problem can be in your nodes /etc/hosts configuration file. We had the same error here and we had to place the following line as the *FIRST* line of our node's /etc/hosts:
"127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.localdomain"
I don't know if this will work for you, since we are working in a different approch here (with vservers) but I think you should try.
Please report your results here.
Regards,
Fernando

Hi Bernard,
Thanks for pointing out the error logs (I didn't know where they were located).
The content of /home/oscartst/torque/shelltest.err is

/opt/pbs/bin/pbsdsh: tm_init failed, rc = TM_ESYSTEM (17000)
/opt/pbs/bin/pbsdsh: tm_init failed, rc = TM_ESYSTEM (17000)

Any idea of what's going wrong? (I tried to use google but didn't find any useful hints)

Yes, I re-ran the test several times. There were more errors the first time, and only
one failure (PBS shell test) in the subsequent runs.

Thanks in advance,
Shiang-Tai

Have you checked for error logs in /home/oscartst/pbs ?

Also, have you tried re-running the test? Some times it succeeds the
second time through ;-)

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] PBS Shell Test failed (OSCAR4+FC2)

Hi,
I failed to pass the "PBS Shell" test in step 8. Everything else looks OK. Past discussions seems to indicate that this is a problem with the use of localhost as the name of the network in /etc/hosts.
I checked my hosts file and thought that this is not the case for me. Does anyone know any other
cause for this test failure? What's the consequence?

Here's my /etc/hosts file
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs # that require network functionality will fail.
10.0.1.10 tele tele oscar_server nfs_oscar pbs_oscar 140.112.xx.xx mec.ntu.edu.tw mec

10.0.1.3 node3.tele node3
10.0.1.4 node4.tele node4
10.0.1.5 node5.tele node5
