Hi R:

1) I am sure MPICH2 will work with OSCAR, however, there is currently no
package for it meaning you will have to install it yourself. OSCAR does
include LAM/MPI and it supports a chunk of functionalities for MPI-2,
for more information check out this page:
http://www.lam-mpi.org/about/overview/

2) We have never attempted to install OSCAR 4.0 on an 'upgraded' Linux
(i.e. Red Hat 9 -> Fedora Core 2) but I don't see why it would not work.
However, it is usually advisable simply to re-install the whole OS.

You can always backup the user's home directories and other important
files from the filesystem before you do anything like this.

MPICH and LAM/MPI are installed by default on OSCAR, so that should
cover your MPI-1 & MPI-2 (LAM/MPI) requirements. If you specifically
require MPICH2, you can install it yourself, too.

Cheers,

Bernard
