Hi Johnston:

It seems that you have a hostname mismatch?

10.10.10.1 pleiades_cluster.starfire.plk.af.mil pleiades_cluster oscar_server nfs_oscar pbs_oscar

127.0.0.1             pleiades.starfire.plk.af.mil pleiades localhost.localdomain localhost

Cheers,

Bernard

Thank you again for your help Bernard.  Here is a copy of what I have in my host file.  I’m going to now go and look in the installation guide to see if I have the correct host name.

Hi Johnston:

It would help if you can post your /etc/hosts file so that we can take a look at it (you can omit public facing IPs for security reasons).

Also, you might want to take a look at the OSCAR Installation Guide and search for 'hostname' to check what are acceptable names for hosts.

Cheers,

Bernard

Thank you for you fast response Bernard.  I’ve looked into my hosts file and it all appears to be fine.  I can ping  pleiades_cluster.starfire.plk.af.mil, pleiades_cluster, oscar_server, nfs_oscar, pbs_oscar and localhost.  I can also ping every node if that matters.  Is there something specific that I should check in there?

Thank again and great work!

Hi Johnston:

The log file is in /opt/oscar/oscarinstall.log.

You might want to take a look at your /etc/hosts file on the headnode to see if it is fine.  Some times this gets modified incorrectly and thus causing the problem.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] post install scripts failed

I’m trying to finish up my cluster using OSCAR here but when I click the “Complete Cluster Setup” button it runs for a while and gets just past the “postfix” install and then crashes out to the message below.  Where are these log files that I need to look at? When I scroll back and look at data that’s being spit out I see a problem with PBS as seen below.  Could that be what my problem is?  How do I add to the ‘node list’ for PBS?

Thanks for the help and this great software.
