Hi all,

I've been perusing the archives a bit and have noticed that others have had trouble installing on machines with SATA drives. I also have noted that the SATA hard drive is detected and reported by RHEL 3 as /dev/sda.

For the record, we are having the same trouble imaging Dell SC 1425 nodes. The PXE boot goes fine, the kernel loads, but the installation stops when trying to find disks, with the error

DISKS = 0
NO DISK DEVICE FILES WERE FOUND. THIS USUALLY MEANS THE KERNEL DID NOT RECOGNIZE ANY OF THE ATTACHED DISKS.

I do not have a complete archive of oscar postings, so rather than reinventing the wheel and re-solving this problem, I thought I'd ask quickly if there was a fix (ideally, a replacement kernel) for the imaging kernel used by SystemImager.

Has this problem been solved yet?

Thanks,

Jason
