Hi Johnston:

Postfix is a mail system.

OSCAR uses syslog (configured via the loghost package) to log node messages on the headnode's /var/log/mesages.

If you cannot find any information about the crash in your OS logs, you can also check your BIOS for messages.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] postfix and errors

Bernard,

I’m sorry for such a silly question, but I was wondering if OSCAR uses the postfix system to report errors of each node back to the head node?  If it does, do they go back to a file somewhere?  I’m having nodes crash but when I look in the /var/log/messages on the nodes I don’t see errors that could be related to that.  Thanks!

Mike
