Thanks Bernard,

I upgraded to the newest OSCAR and now that problem went away and now I can bring up xpbs.  I still can’t start pbs_sched and the log file says “PBS_SCED: address already in use (98) in main, bind.”  I’m researching that right now.

Can you post your host files?

If you look at the log files for pbs_sched, it should give you a better idea of why it couldn't start - possibly because 'another service is running'.  If that's the case, kill that process and try again.

Cheers,

Bernard

Thanks for the help Bernard.

I noticed that my pbs_sched isn’t running and I can’t make it run.  It fails when I try and start it.

One thing that I noticed that never noticed before was that in the hosts file pbs_oscar and nfs_oscar are at the end of every line for each node.  Is that normal?  On my other cluster I’m running an older version of OSCAR and the hosts file doesn’t list those options.

I also noticed that when I push the server configuration the pbs service won’t stop and it says “another service is running.”

Hey Johnston:

That bug only happens when you are un-installing a node, so I don't think it's the same situation as what you are encountering right now.

Check to see if your PBS Server is actually running, also a good place to look for error logs is in /var/spool/pbs etc.

TORQUE is basically OpenPBS with enhancements, so it also has xpbs and xpbsmon tools available.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] Problem with PBS check

I saw someone posting about an error that I’m having with PBS in OSCAR.

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=11522709

I’m having the same problem on one of my cluster as this person on one of my clusters.  I have two FC2 clusters and one works fine and the other one gives me the error “PBSNodes: cannot connect to server pbs_oscar, error=111.”  Is there something that I can do to fix this?

Also Bernard mentioned using Torque.  Is there a GUI for torque similar to xpbs?  Please excuse my ignorance.

Thanks again for you help!
