Title: [Oscar-users] Stable platform for Oscar !
It really depends on the applications you need to run.  If they are all compatible with newer versions of Linux, then go with something like CentOS or ScientificLinux 4.2.  Fedora Core 4 is also fine if you want bleeding edge stuff.

OSCAR 4.2.1 beta5 will be out soon, you should have a pretty smooth experience with any of the above mentioned distroes.  We haven't (yet) officially tested RHEL3u6 with 4.2.1, but I can't imagine anything that will break it.  You are welcome to test and report any issues.

RHL9 has been end of lifed for a long time, even fedora-legacy stopped providing updates, if I remember correctly.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] Stable platform for Oscar !

Hi there,
Im thinking of moving over to Centos 3.6 (patched RHEL 3 )  & Oscar 4.2 . Is
this known to be a more stable platform for oscar cluster. or should I go
with FC or something. btw the oscar 4.1 docs suggests to patch/update the
Rhel 3 after the oscar installation. I hope already patched rhel 3 (Centos
3.6) wont cauze any issues. any experiences are welcome.

Im guess my miseries with MAUI & PBS would be reduced by doing away with RH
9. btw what about patched RH9 with Fedora-legacy updates. Anyone has that
setup running smoothly. ?
my current cluster specs are mentions below.
