Hi Eli:

For one thing, you need to ensure that the line which reads "127.0.0.1" should be:

127.0.0.1   localhost.localdomain localhost

In other words, clear out the "clustertest.hq.andrews-space.com clustertest".

Try to run "Install OSCAR Server Packages" again and "Complete Cluster Setup" - hopefully this solves your problem.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: [Oscar-users] oscar "hostname: Unknow host" error

Hi,

I’m up to the “Complete Cluster Setup” step in the oscar 4.2 wizard, and it hangs saying it cannot resolve the host name.  Everything has gone well up to now, all the nodes are booted locally.  This may be a simple host file problem, but I am fairly new to linux so I’m not sure…  I’m running on x86 Fedora Core 3.

The /etc/hosts file is:

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs

# that require network functionality will fail.

192.168.1.20 clustertest.hq.andrews-space.com clustertest oscar_server nfs_oscar pbs_oscar

192.168.20.1    testcluster.hq.andrews-space.com headnode oscar_server nfs_oscar pbs_oscar

127.0.0.1   clustertest.hq.andrews-space.com    clustertest localhost.localdomain   localhost

# These entries are managed by SIS, please don't modify them.

192.168.20.2         testnode001.testcluster.hq.andrews-space.com testnode001

192.168.20.3         testnode002.testcluster.hq.andrews-space.com testnode002

192.168.20.4         testnode003.testcluster.hq.andrews-space.com testnode003

Thanks,

Eli
