Hi Carlos:

Have you tried the kernel available here?

Perhaps it'll recognize your hardware.

If that doesn't work, I recommend you try the newer version of SystemImager from OSCAR trunk, even if the stock SystemImager kernel does not work, you should be able to use the UYOK functionality to generate a working boot kernel/ramdisk:

Please post back to the mailing-list if you have further questions.

Cheers,

Bernard

Subject: RE: [Oscar-users] Sata Disks and program parted

Hi again Bernard,

Definitively I can’t install my new node on my cluster L.

I started this thread in February and on that time I hade the following problem:

I started my cluster with one head computer plus 2 nodes (every computers where running FC2)

My problems started when I needed to replace one of the nodes, with a new one with different hardware.

I my problems started. The network card was not recognized so I did these steps:

  1. downloaded the drivers and complied then
  2. downloaded the systemimager
  3. created a new kernel
  4. downloaded the image to the new client and rebooted it

But the node didn’t boot. After some tests I realized that FC2 didn’t recognized the SATA disk the new node (FC4 recognized the disk).

After that I upgraded the OS of the main node from FC2 to FC4, installed 4.2.1b4, repeated the previous steps but after the image being downloaded to the node it didn’t boot.

So the next steps where:

  1. Format the head node and install a clean FC4 (no updates) (uname –r gives 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4smp)
  2. download OSCAR version 4.2.1b5r4423
  3. download the network card drivers and complied them
  4. download systemimager version 3.6.3 (Linux src is 2.6.12.2)
  5. build a new kernel
  6. download the image to the node

The node get connect to the head node, gets the image but when I reboot the client the client can boot.

I don’t know what I should do next J.

Is there anyone that has a similar problem/solution?

Thanks in advanced,

Carlos
