We have a bunch of Sun Fire x4100s in our cluster, and I remember building the SystemImager x86_64 kernel to specifically support it.  However the issue is that the SystemImager kernel is 2.6.16.5 and the mpt modules got split up into multiple ones and this is in conflict with how Red Hat Enterprise Linux's backported 2.6.9 mpt modules (monolithic) work.
 
This is not a problem though, as we now have UYOK, which means that as long as your OS (eg. RHEL) supports your hardware, SystemImager can use that kernel to boot your compute nodes to image, solving a bulk of hardware related issues.

So the short answer to your question is, yes it works but you'll probably need to wait until OSCAR 5 is released, which will have SystemImager 3.7.3 (or newer) included.

We are looking into using oscar for our upcoming HPC cluster. It looks
as if the compute nodes will be Sun x4100, which include a  LSI MPT
SAS controller. Does anyone have any experiences withe this controller
and oscar? Our first choice for an OS is RHEL 4.
