RESOLVED!

I found the problem thanks to VMWare having a record movie function (and 
for Bernard's suggestion that I review the client install). During the 
client install the initrd cannot be created because there is no BusLogic 
module in the kernel, which is VMWare's default SCSI option. I didn't 
think that this would matter since I wasn't using a SCSI hard disk or 
CD-ROM. It does matter. I fixed this by selecting LSI Logic for the SCSI 
controller when I created the slave virtual machines and the OSCAR 
client installed just fine. Thanks for all of your help.
