Will SSI-OSCAR help me load balance the Apache or MySQL servers?

Hi:
SSI-OSCAR can be downloaded from the official website:
http://ssi-oscar.gforge.inria.fr/
It is implemented as a third-party package for OSCAR which you can download via
OPD (Step 0). The rest of the steps are pretty much the same as a standard
OSCAR installation.
I believe there are plans to bring SSI-OSCAR up to OSCAR 5.0 (when it is released), however I'm not exactly sure of the current status.
Cheers,
Bernard

Subject: Re: [Oscar-users] MySQL and Apache over OSCAR Cluster
So its not possible to load balance apache and MySQL over the OSCAR
Cluster/nodes. Where do I get a copy of SSI-OSCAR, will it be as easy as the
standard OSCAR package installation?

I see, well, you could use OSCAR as a base for installing an apache or
mysql server cluster I immagine. OSCAR has some handy tools which
make installing any more or less identical software over a bunch of
"compute" nodes much easier.
In that case you would probably strip out all but the core packages on
install.
It would certainly be possible to make server farm friendly packages
for OSCAR, that is not what it is generally used for though, so I am
not sure if the current set of developers would be able to offer a
great deal of support for that kind of project.
Its a bit outside our box, but I think its great when people push in
new directions :)

I think he's asking whether OSCAR can load balance MySQL and
apache threads across multiple nodes in the cluster - so the answer to that is
no.
However, I think this is probably possible with SSI-OSCAR (just
not the standard HPC OSCAR offering) - perhaps Geoffroy can add his comment to
this.
I have always wanted to make a MySQL cluster package for OSCAR,
just didn't have the time...

Bernard

Oscar uses Apache and MySQL itself, so yes.

Hi there,
I'm new to clustering and will try to run OSCAR cluster
in my office.
Will I be able to run MySQL Server and Apache over
OSCAR Cluster?
Thanks.
