Did you reinstall the operating system on the headnode before installing OSCAR 5.0? OSCAR installs a package called pfilter, which might be causing problems, check on your services list and see if pfilter is listed and turned on. If it is, you should try turning it off and trying your network again. Pfilter is a seperate firewall system from the operating system firewall, so turning that off might not turn of pfilter.
If you did not reinstall the operating system, it is probably a good idea, 4.2 does not "uninstall" well...
