What is your use case exactly?

OSCAR 5.0 can be used for sub clusters running different architectures (if
the head node is x86_64 and nodes are a mix of x86_64 and i386 for example),
but this process is not well documented and is not set up "per node" at
least as I am thinking of it.  It may be possible to extend it to use
different OSes as well, but I am not sure how far this goes, because as I
said the process has not been well documented.  I think it would help if you
told us a bit more about what you were trying to do, then we could give you
a more complete answer.
