Hi Michael, Yes, everything imaged correctly when I replaced those files (and changed the action to "install" from "localboot", thanks for that too.)
However, I now have the eth0/eth1 2.6 kernel/Dell issue now; that is, the node was imaged using one interface (and that's the MAC address that's stored in the OSCAR config)--however, it's actually the other (Dell2 = eth0) one that's actively mapped to eth0. I can't ping between the machines even after switching the cables-- presumably this is because things haven't been configured yet (as I recall on previous OSCAR installs, until you run "setup cluster" the machines can't really talk to each other yet.) What is your suggested fix? Idea 1: a) recable all Dellport1s to DellPort2s b) regather MAC addresses for DellPort2 instead of DellPort1 c) reimage using eth0=DellPort2 (can you PXE boot off of Dellport2? or will it default to DellPort1?) d) continue as usual Idea 2: Try and run that name_eths file as a post-install script? Other thoughts? (I've already got it swapped around on my head node so that I'm installing on eth1=DellPort1 and eth0=DellPort2 is connected to the outside world) On Mar 15, 2007, at 11:24 AM, Michael Edwards wrote: > Did you get my suggested modprobe.conf file to possibly fix the > kernel pannic? > > I went back and started over with 5.0 to make sure the magic wasn't > the newer version of SIS, but everything imaged fine when I used those > two files I posted. > > I wasn't sure if the files I posted were at all clear since I screwed > up so many times. > > Here it is again just in case from an internal wiki page I made > yesterday :) > > ********* > Install RHEL 4 - Add development tools at least, and graphical > internet > run http://linux.dell.com/files/name_eths/ to switch the eth0 and eth1 > ports to match gig1 and gig2 > > Install OSCAR as described here http:// > svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/wiki > > Gotchas: > Set /etc/ssh.conf to allowrootlogin yes > fix /etc/hosts so the localhost and hostname are in different lines. > hostname and public interface IP should be together.
