The modprobe.conf on the node is bad. This happens sometimes when the
hardware on the head and compute nodes is very different. Boot the compute
node with a rescue cd and (assuming the node then works) copy down the
contents of /etc/modprobe.conf used by the rescue OS to the
/etc/modprobe.conf on the nodes OS disk.
If you have many different kinds of nodes, you may have to do this for each
of them, which limits the utility of OSCAR somewhat, but not completely.
