Thanks, Allan This straight-forward advise is from the thread discussed a bit over a month ago - thanks, but again (at least in my case), there seems to be more than this. I made a quick test perl script made of snipets of wizard_prep to test what broke what and independently see that the PERL5LIB variable (without the trailing "OSCAR", as this is explicitly used in the scripts ;) allows a "use PackagePath;" call near the top to execute - one would almost be inclined to also add a "use PackageSmart;" statement, but this breaks - not because it can't find the local perl module library (PackageSmarft is where PackagePath is, where updatedb/locate sa they are as you indicate, /opt/oscar/lib) but because, it seems, there is no PackMan anywhere.
As a side-note, I also discovered that perl's handling of the PERL5LIB variable was broken for Fedorae before 9 (ie., in 5.0). It was fixed for 5.1, so this is not an issue. Do you require PackMan to successfully install OSCAR 5.1rc1 on Fedora 9? It doesn't seem to come with the rpms for 5.1 at SOURCEFORGE - if required, where did you did it, and (anyone else?) why would it not be in the OSCAR "distro"?
