Hah - after finding the client build had died against this morning I started with a simple "yum update" and in fact it was opkg-sis (and only this) that got updated.

I shall simply start another client build and see what happens.

Yes! Step 4 has now been completed successfully.
For some reason, tftpd is not working correctly. One I have figured
