if you don't mind backing down a version, i have consistently used oscar 5.1b2
with RHEL 5 with no trouble. you could try that if you can't get the unstable
repository working...

Christopher,

6.0.2 does not handle correctly RHEL-5 since only online repositories were
supported. However, the upcoming 6.0.3 (i.e., the unstable repository) does
currently support RHEL-5. You can find information about how to use the
unstable repository on the following documents:
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/repoTesting
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/InstallGuide

Note that the first link will explain how to use the unstable repository, will
the second link is the documentation for the upcoming 6.0.3. Therefore, you may
have a mismatch between the two documentations regarding the configuration of
the repository to use to install OSCAR. The first documentation is the one we
must follow for that.

If you have any issues, please let me know.

Thanks,

PS: I am planning of releasing 6.0.3 on Monday, May-18.

Objet: [Oscar-users] RHEL 5 Issues

Hello,

I have not had to come to the list for a long time with a question due to the
stability of oscar and linux until now. I have been trying to get oscar 6.02
working with Redhat EL 5.0 Server x86_64. I followed the steps in the oscar
documentation exactly and this is the sequence.

yum update (works)

yum install oscar yume packman orm perl-AppConfig (works)

I copied all the rpms off the dvd to /tftpboot/distro/redhat-el-5-x86_64

then

cd /tftpboot/distro/redhat-el-5-x86_64 && packman --prepare-repo
/tftpboot/distro/redhat-el-5-x86_64

Repository /tftpboot/distro/redhat-el-5-x86_64 is now ready.

now I try

oscar-config --supported-distro

centos-5-x86_64 centos-5-i386 fedora-10-x86_64 fedora-9-i386 fedora-9-x86_64
ubuntu-8-x86_64 ubuntu-8-i386 debian-4-x86_64 debian-4-i386 suse-10-x86_64

notice redhat-el-5-x86_64 not listed

I try

oscar-config --setup-distro redhat-el-5-x86_64

=============================================================================
== Setting redhat-el-5-x86_64...
=============================================================================
ERROR: Unsupported distro (redhat-el-5-x86_64) at /usr/bin/oscar-config line
293.

Ok then I try

oscar-config --bootstrap

=============================================================================
== OSCAR bootstrap
=============================================================================
--> Prereq status for redhat-el-server, 5, x86_64
--> Prereqs status (/usr/share/oscar/prereqs/AppConfig):

If I use this command

system-sanity

Checking your system...
Success: su-check.pl
----------------------------------------------
 ERROR: Yum configuration is invalid
 The gpgkey is set to 1, it will be impossible
 to install OSCAR packages.
 Please, set the gpgkey to 1 (/etc/yum.conf).
----------------------------------------------
Failure: yum-check.pl
Success: debrepo-check.pl
Success: ssh-check.pl
 ----------------------------------------------------
 WARNING: oscar_server is not defined in /etc/hosts.
 This may be normal if this is the first time you
 execute OSCAR.
 ----------------------------------------------------
Warning: network-check.pl

  SELinux is enabled, please deactivate it editing
  /etc/selinux/config
 ----------------------------------------------
Failure: selinux-check.pl
Success: tftpboot-check.pl
Success: display-check.pl

I don't understand the gpgkey error. However, the larger issue is how do I get
oscar past the beginning stages with configuration on RHEL 5?

Thank you in advance,
