All,

I will try to work on the problem during the week-end. I know what is the 
problem but i do not understand why this is happening... so i may need some 
time to fix it.

count this as a (possibly useless) 'me too'.

i circumvented the problem by disabling (commenting) the post hook in 
/usr/lib/systeminstaller/SIS/DB.pm

however, that apparently prevented the "Network Configuration" step from 
being enabled, so no luck.

nevertheless: Geoffroy, thanks for your support and dedication in this 
forum.
