Hi,
I am installing Centos 5.4 (x86_64) via a fully up-to-date oscar
6.0.5 from the unstable repo. The computers are all Dell PowerEdge
T610 servers. My head node is configured with a PERC H200 raid10,
while the rest of the nodes have a single SAS hard drive on a Dell SAS
6 controller. Other than that, the hardware is identical. I've created
my node images without errors (I did have errors with maui/torque and
lam as reported in a different posting but it worked using sge), and
was able to image my nodes, also without errors. However, they do not
boot properly. Upon bootup, I get a kernel panic, with the following
output (please excuse any typos since I have to enter this manually):
Loading dm-raid45.ko module
insmod: error inserting '/lib/dm-raid-45.ko': -1 Operation not permitted
Waiting for driver initialization.
stabilized: open /proc/scsi/scsi: No such file or directory
Scanning and configuring dmraid supported devices
Trying to resume from /dev/sda2
Unable to access resume device (/dev/sda2)
Creating root device.
Mounting root filesystem.
mount: could not mount filesystem '/dev/root'
Setting up other filesystems.
Setting up new root fs.
setuproot: moving /dev failed: No such file or directory
no fstab.sys, mounting internal defaults
setuproot: eroor mounting /proc: No such file or directory
setuproot: eroor mounting /sys: No such file or directory
switching to new root and running init.
unmounting old /dev
unmounting old /proc
unmounting old /sys
switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
My partitions on the nodes are as follows:
/dev/sda1 ext3 /boot 102MB
/dev/sda2 swap 12GB
/dev/sda3 ext3 / 147GB
I've tried modifying both /etc/fstab in the image I am using and
modprobe.conf - the latter is a copy of the master node's, and /etc/
fstab is setup as above. Neither has helped.
I've tried to make my own initrd as per http://www.mail-archive.com/oscar-de...@lists.sourceforge.net/msg08930.html
, modified of course to match my config (mptsas and correct kernel
version). This also hasn't worked - same errors.
I've tried booting from a rescue disk and modifying modprobe.conf and
fstab - also hasn't worked.
I've tried UYOK for the imaging process but that leads to other errors
with modules - I believe (?) since I am able to do the imaging without
errors not using UYOK, it's not necessary.
I'm not sure why its using the dm-raid modules that you see in the
output, since I do not have any such hardware. It is using mptsas, and
I've even added modprobe mptsas to the preinstall scripts - also to no
avail.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ivan Sergeyev
