Hi Huu,

I'm replying on the list so people are aware that oscar is NOT DEAD.

1st of all, thanks a lot for your support, this is very motivating :-)

As of yesterday, OSCAR on centos-6.3 is FULLY OPERATIONAL with a step 8
successfull (0 errors). and with the following characteristics:
- GPU support (oscar database, torque configuration)
- BLCR support including opkg + tests (Berkley Checkpoint Restart)
- Torque-oscar-4.1.4pre
- MAUI-oscar-3.3.1
- systemimager-4.2.0pre with ext4 support
- ganglia-3.1.7 (epel)
- Many enhancements in tests robustness and code.(still not as perfect as I'd
like though)

what's next (by priority):
1/ Update and test openmpi (latest version) with support for blcr+torque
scheduler.
2/ crosscheck with my company how I can release my work so far (validate that
all my code is non-proprietary (linked to GPL code).
3/ release the RPMS and my svndump and if possible tarballs.
4/ Update ganglia to latest version (better design).
99/ (far far away): understand SGE and migrate to new naming scheme (gridengine)

For the future: cleaning up. My tasks are:
- fix oscar setup distro (more than one oscar repo)[medium]
Sometimes it is convenient to have more than one oscar repository (e.g.:
official + local)
Add option to include distro configured repos to oscar defined ones:
For example, on CentOS include /etc/yum.repos.d/*.repo in oscar-config when
doing:

  oscar-config --setup-distro centos-6-x86_64 --include-os-repos

Right now, we are in a situation where OS defined repos could be different
from the one

defined in supported_distros which could lead to problems when trying to
upgrade the headnode.

- Create a munge opkg (required by torque and used by default in centos)[easy]
Required to create the munge key and deploy it on nodes. Needs munge tests as
well

- Fix ssh configuration on nodes (avoid no xauth warning) [easy]
Right now, the /etc/ssh/ssh_config is incorrect (tabs on some parameters are
ignored (ForwardX11 for example). Some parameters are obsoletes. Need cleanup

- update mtaconfig opkg so you can configure smtp relay and aliases.[medium]

- fix sync_files[medium]

- Enhance torque test with GPU tests (if available) and BLCR tests (if
available). (hybernating gpu process seems a little bit on thhe edge, but at
least, we need to make sur that it works or that it is so instable that we need
to forbid that).

Please be patient, I'll do my best to release a test version ASAP (few weeks).

Olivier.

Hi Olivier.

You are alone now to support the Oscar project, I wish you've a "bon courage ",
so I think you're really busy, your time is shared between Oscar development
and CEA's job.
I'm a fan of Oscar cluster , can you tell me when we have the new release that
support Centos 6.x?

Thanks

Huu Duc Le
