Today, Opensource.com announced a 7-week initiative to help promote The Open Organization [1].

I'd like to invite you to join us for a virtual book club to discuss open leadership, organizational management, and other ideas from The Open Organization: Igniting Passion and Performance, by Jim Whitehurst. Starting on August 31, we'll go through chapter by chapter each week.

Every week, our ambassadors and community members will guide us through a new chapter of the book. They will ask questions and offer insights to get us talking about ways to make organizations more open.

What we're really excited about is hosting Twitter chats each Thursday between August 31 - October 16 at 2:00 pm ET/11:00 am PT (18:00 UTC) using #OpenOrgChat hashtag. Since we are piloting Twitter chats, we will look to offer additional times in the future for other time zones. Wait, what's a Twitter chat? [2] Think IRC chats over Twitter with the hashtag as your channel.

We''ll be featuring special guests like Marten Mickos, Charlene Li, Brian Fielkow, Chris Grams, and Brook Manville, and Red Hatters Thomas Cameron, Lee Congdon, Ma¡rin Duffy, Jan Wildoboer, and others.

The official schedule is posted [3] and will be updated frequently as we confirm additional guests for our Twitter chats. Please join us when you can, provide any feedback to me or memo-list on how we can make this as successful as possible, and share the announcement. [4]

Thank you,
Jason Hibbets
