Recently MDec also announces a 70+ juta ringgit carrot for Animation
industry if not mistaken. So i like to ask community opinion here.
Considering that FOSS only gets a 10m announcement. Is that fair?

I wouldnt want to answer that but just trying to point at the perception
people have onto FOSS. They think that foss is either free as in free
lunch or cheap as in cheapskate. The irony is that it is neither any of
these.

1. Free as in Freedom. That is the mantra and battle cry or holy quran
of Richard Stallman from day one. He sold tapes at USD100 each on his
codes for example. He has being preaching that Information is Free, but
ppl are not. His opposition to the term open source is because he is
afraid the concept of freedom is lost when you can see codes but not
'open target' them and commit back to source.

2. Cheap as in Closed Source. Yep, close source is not a good buy. Would
you want to buy a DVD you do not know what is inside? Do you want to buy
food that you do not know the ingredients? Halal concept demands open
source, up back to the farm where the cow lives. So non-halal goods or
non open source software is of questionable quality as there are alot of
graphical hypes and long leg amois decking the headlines.

When we formed the ADempiere project, we discovered spyware inside it
inherited from our parent Compiere project. That spyware told the master
that there are 33,000 compiere users worldwide. We took that code out.

Next, we found a hole where a short URL script can take out the
password. We patched that up.

But my point here is that software engineering in this way is expensive
and highly valuable to the country's economy. It should receive USD1
billion funding. And its ROI is in 5 years. I am not talking bs. I saw
the numbers when i was working on OracleExchange.
