Hey Guys Jeremy Here,
This is a job ad. Here is the story. I'm setting up a new office in
KL for a company called Aspect Enterprise Solutions. (aspectenterprise.com
) the make software for commodities traders. The office in KL will
be a mix of Support, both customer facing and technical (checking
database, ensure xml feeds are working, system patching and
configuration, etc..) Software Engineers in Test (in other words
writing software to test software) and Pure Software Engineering.
While the Software Engineering is Java, both the Support and Software
Engineers in Test will be doing python coding! :) For the Software
Engineer in Test, we are selecting the toolset to use right now, but
most likely it will be Windmill, and for the Support Engineers there
will be a lot of system level scripts to be done in python, (or bash
if you prefer :) ).
So the "official" job add is below. But if anybody is interested, or
you guys know anybody who is, please let me know. Office location

QA Engineer/Technical Support Analyst
(Kuala Lumpur - KL Sentral)
Job Responsibilities: Functional, performance and regression testing
of a software product; Linux/Oracle-based infrastructure configuration
and maintenance; Ensure SLA-compliant response time for issues raised
by regional clients; Investigation and root cause isolation for issues
raised by regional clients; Full responsibility for the entire issue
resolution lifecycle
Understanding of: Software development process; QA methodologies; Test
automation frameworks; Unix/Linux fundamentals; Distributed computing
in general
Hands-on experience with most of the following: Unix/Linux operating
systems administration (including shell scripting); Source code
control tools (e.g. CVS, Subversion); Programming (Java, Python, Perl,
PHP, Ruby, etc); XML/XSL data formatting/transformation; SQL
programming; Basic Oracle database administration; Testing Web
Services; Stress testing of Web applications (experience with Jmeter
is a big plus); On-site or off-site technical support, preferably with
a software product vendor
Familiarity with any of the following is a big plus: Commodities
trading, Mathematical statistics, Java-based technologies (hands on)
