yes u re rite.. i would behave like him too. It is just a clash of
cultures. He likes things to be specific and clear to the 't'. In our
culture, we are 'bolehlah' and 'tak apa'. I 'enjoyed the adventure' of
trying to interview him, though the osdc crew with me (including me)
took the shock and tried our best to recover from the shock.

Ok, by this morning i have recovered from the shock. Here is the account
of the attempted interview in point form:

1. Just finished listening to David of MYSQL delivering his one-two
punch talk against the business BS that didnt stop him and Monty from
blazing MySQL from zero to hero. Was talking to him about my ADempiere
project also going on MySQL when Syazwan interjected me that RMS is in
the building. Not been rude to another illuminary, after taking a photo
with him, i turned around to find Syazwan but he is gone (aiya... need
to find CNN pulak). After running around a while got the filming crew
and head to RMS in the speaker's room.

2. RMS sitting alone at his notebook looked up and i tried to explain
who i am and what i like to do with him. And that takes some stuttering
rounds before he is satisfied about it. You know, he will ask, "What
EXACTLY are you going to do first before anything" kinda questions. I
got that kind of questioning in court with Karpal Singh before (another
story for another day).

3. RMS gently but firmly asked the camera not to be on and what the
eco-system of the interview to be. On which site will it be shown on? I
said 'we know your condition of not to be on Youtube' and he went on
that court of law restatement again, "I asked 'on which site will it be
shown on?'". And this is where RMS is polite. He then set out to explain
why he is asking that question which i did not really answered. Finally
i gave the defendant's reply, "Yes, i am guilty. I do not know which
site it will be on. Can we check with you first". RMS rest his case.

4. Again no camera, because RMS has to see the questions first.
Immediately (you can say quite sharply his eyes) he said my first
question of asking 'any personal ideas of making money' from FOSS is
regarded by him as 'an attack' on what he is professing i.e. freedom.
Wow.. i like him so much, really felt like Old Bailey.

5. RMS then asked that questioning has to be done at the end of his hour
long delivery of what he professes and cannot be taken out of context. I
explained that the questions are arising questions from his hour long
talks i listened to online and he gave his own sustained objection that
it is different and bla, bla.. yada, yada.. (ok, ok, we got it and just
settled for some personal photos with him).

6. But he took the time to go thru my other questions and the same
english law mixed with Pilgrim Father suspiciously Amish taste thrown
in. And that is where i concluded that he is annoyingly politically
incorrect though innocent till proven guilty. But then who judge the
highest judge?

7. I could muster that his reactons to those questions are exactly the
content i wanted. Rejection of the question is an answer (Socractically
speaking).

8. During the talk, which i could not get in due to us trying to down
the shock with some kopi-o and kuih at the outside corridor, we have to
sit in the other hall which has a live telecast of the talk. We had a
hilarious time throwing him questions in that adjoining hall while he is
on the large screen. "What is your opinion sir about Free Sex?"

9. During the break is another episode at the canteen, but i will give
the whole day's account in my blogspot if i got time one fine day.

In short, it is really fossil fun and i will really like a professor
such as him to teach in our places.
