hi all, and with all due respect to Rafe, he is on the other side, but he's on our side;-) So don't shoot the messenger.
I agree with Rafe, WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Often a lot of protests is nothing more than 'tunjuk perasaan' thre's nothing concrete. If all we have to offer re angry voices, then we are seen as nothing more than the noisy rabble that protest at petty issues. But the ICT aganda of the nation is NOT A PETTY ISSUE. We are fighting for our future, our place in the knowledge economy. And as Red1 sez, the web is the great equalizer, we have an opportunity, but don't forget who controls the web? We, Malaysians, are merely the consumer of technology & services, we WANT to be a producer - a well thought out ICT policy should lead us in that direction. And this is not going to happen, if left in the hands of bureaucrats or politicians - let alone them being advised by vendors with vested interest. Rather than just 'make noise' why don't we try to draw out some policies/programs that we can present to the higher-ups/powers that be. Then show them we are as good if not better than those goons in the IAP. I suggest we work on such 'policy' papers and produce them with quality that can rival any of the so called 'experts' like PWC, Boston Consulting etc.... and I'm sure we, among the community, and those close to the community, have the ideas and the capabiity. Now we really have to sit down and do the work, be as rigorous in the details as we are volumnous on the big picture. Are we up to it? I'm sure there are those willing to contribute... if so if we are meeting this Fri, at Red1's cyberjaya haunt, lets kick something off.... anyone care to prepare an agenda?
