i run ubuntu netbook remix 10.04 on acer aspire one. no problems so far. i use it as my main work computer.
get the intel atom n280 (or newer), 2gb ram, and 6-cell battery (protuding pot belly battery). once ran oracle 10g db and oracle forms 6i app on it. still boleh lagi even with firefox and openoffice running concurrently. when comparing the netbooks, check out the ports (usb / vga / sdcard / eth / bluetooth) and also the after-sales service. netbooks are mass market products, so there are bound to be a few that does not work as it should.
