Yes you can simply copy. Perhaps use ldd to get dependencies. If the app honor LD_LIBRARY_PATH, then probably can put in another directory. If the search path of the library is embedded in the binary (rpath), you probably can still change that using PatchELF (http://nixos.org/patchelf.html)
