I attended the .my IDN lauching back on 2009. There seems a university
(UPM?) & SIRIM doing some research about Jawi format/standards (this
thing going on like a million years already) but I bet nothing got done
by now. 

And there's the lingering issue of the hamzah 3 suku (3/4) character
that is not supported by unicode. 

There's the arabeyes project for arabic font, but from what I heard it
does not supports the jawi script (I asked its developer). Maybe
Persian/Urdu font can be used since that is the origin of Jawi
characters (AFAIK) but still the same issue with not supporting all the
jawi characters.


If you can view all the Jawi characters on
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jawi_script that means you distro supports
it and I can view it on Debian Squeeze.
