Yes usb dongle definitely not working under all flavor of Linux because there is no driver for the device. It was reported there will be one for android, but I won't put my hopes too high on this. If you have Windows/OSX on a VM, perhaps you can still use the dongle. Otherwise your only option is to hack a (userland?) driver yourself.
