I think pay per use is a fair, 3sen per MB is just so cheap. Even mobile data plan is cheap; I am currently paying Maxis RM 58 (after RM10 rebate) for 1.5 GB , and I rarely reach the 500MB mark. However, there are times when I need to tether to my laptop. Even if I use up 1.5 GB using Yes! its only RM 45. Too bad I have more than 1 year to go with my current contract :(
Speaking about TM, if you subscribe to the cheapest plan, you just get crap quality. I used to have a 384 kbps package, but the speed rarely reaches the maximum, and I always get disconnection and port hung issue, requiring a call to TM Support just to fix it. For a 2 week period, I was disconnected because of port issue again - those of you who have called TM Support will understand the frustrations of talking to their agents and trying to convince them the problem is on their side. When I upgrade to 1 Mbps though, the disconnection issues magically disappear, and I consistently get 1.5 Mbps download speed. Likewise I am having a Unifi VIP 5 (5 Mbps) plan now, and I rarely get the maximum download/upload speed. Out of curiosity I tried bittorrent, traffic is capped at 15 kbps - yes, fifteen. I have seen those subscribing 20 MBps package getting >20 Hanxue On Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 10:31 AM, Raja Iskandar Shah < [email protected]> wrote: > yes 4g billing is a bit complicated, coz it depends on your usage > > on average i use up 7GB per month - which is roughly about rm140 > > this is deducted from my device purchase rebate (a huddle) > http://www.yes.my/v2/say-yes/huddle-4g-mobile-hotspot.do > > but if you are a heavy torrent / downloader (eg 1 700MB vcd per day), then > yes 4g is not for you. > > > > > On Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 9:20 AM, sweemeng ng <[email protected]> wrote: > >> I feel so cheated, i got unifi 5 meg package and i get at most 500k >.<" >> >> >> On Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 8:41 AM, red1 <[email protected]> wrote: >> >>> celeke.. i mean how much damage it costs you? >>> >>> >>> On 4/13/11 8:09 AM, Raja Iskandar Shah wrote: >>> >>> i choose my tools well. >>> >>> dumped tmnet for maxis bb while in kt 6 months ago. increased average >>> daily speed from about 300kbps to 1mbps. also i had mobility and could take >>> my internet even to the beach. >>> >>> but when i moved to putrajaya maxis bb was terrible. so i switched to >>> yes 4g. just tested 5 minutes ago and i got 4.73mbps download and 1.03mbps >>> upload. this time i had mobility and could share 1 account with my wife at >>> home and me on the move (up to max 3 devices). >>> >>> hd clips on youtube did not even blink ! a 10min clip on youtube did >>> not even pause in between. >>> >>> >>> >>> >>> On Wed, Apr 13, 2011 at 7:47 AM, red1 <[email protected]> wrote: >>> >>>> I have never really complained about my web access from my farm >>>> considering myself lucky even to able to collect my email. >>>> Well, 2 days ago i signed up the TM Blockbuster 1Mb RM110 per mth >>>> package for my farm home, and now i think i am getting 2Mb down and half Mb >>>> up.
