Xbox Linux Made Possible Without a Modchip

An anonymous reader writes "Free-X have released an [0] exploit for the
Xbox that will let you get Linux on the machine without any hardware
mods at all... Microsoft is already [1]threatening them with legal

to contact MS for a month but were ignored, which is why they've
released the exploit. Should be interesting to watch this one."

Melamine Ceiling Tiles and the Quiet PC
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/07/03/2323210

Delta Screemer writes "What good are ceiling tiles when it comes to
making a computer quieter? Well, Max Page of [0]FrostyTech has [1]found
a use for 'Melamine Foam Sound Absorbing Ceiling Tiles' as a cheap way
of lowering the noise a computer produces. By lining the insides of a
computer with these $3 24"x24" industrial office panels he was able to

Newsforge Reports
Dear Microsoft resellers: It's time to look at Linux
http://newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=03/06/30/2322205

    - By Robin 'Roblimo' Miller - We've been seeing stories lately
indicating that Microsoft is beefing up its direct sales staff and
relying less on independent resellers. If you're one of those
resellers, it looks like it's time for you to start offering Linux and
Free/Open Source solutions in addition to the Windows-based ones on
which you've based your business in the past, if only in self-defense.
Chances are, you and your clients will like ...

Fight spam with the DNS, not the CIA
http://newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=03/07/02/0347225

    - by John Fitzgibbon - It seems like spam is in the news every day
lately, and frankly, some of the proposed solutions seem either
completely hare-brained or worse than the problem itself. I'd like to
reiterate a relatively modest proposal I first made over a year ago:
Require legitimate DNS MX records for all outbound email servers.

Hosed by application software
http://newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=03/06/27/1939214

    - by Lee Schlesinger - When I pulled out my garden hose at the end of
the winter, I found it was kinky and cracked, and let little sprays of
water shoot out in odd places. ("Like its owner," my wife says.) It
still did its job, mostly, but I can't say I'm really happy with it.
Which brings us to application software. I've been trying a number of
programs lately that allow clients to communicate with each other, and
I've been tearing my hair out ...

Few languages have been as popular over the years as BASIC. Until
