regarding DeCSS being used as a piracy tool. The article claims that
Hollywood is losing $3 billion a year due to piracy *yawn*, but
Johansen's lawyer believes the acquittal from the previous trial may be
enough for him to win the case. The [1]case is set to go again on
December 2nd this year. What are the prospects of Johansen winning a

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/04/01/1626226

[0]Joe Barr writes " As soon as I saw the news that BioWare released a

RotK Delayed Until May 2004

An anonymous reader writes "New Line Cinema’s The Lord of the Rings:
The Return of the King, will be [0]held for domestic release until
Wednesday, May 12, 2004. The effects work on this third and final film
of the trilogy will surpass its predecessors in scope and intensity,
and the producers as well as director Peter Jackson feel that the extra
time will cement the film’s status as the king of fantasy films and
the crowning jewel of New Line’s massive effort to bring J.RR.
    Tolkien’s epic to the screen."

FSF Debuts "Shared Source" Initiative

[0]matty_x points to coverage at NewsForge of the [1]Free Software

selling out, but it actually makes a lot of sense for the FSF to listen

than only to developers and freeloading users. Bravo!

>From Turkey Guts to Fuel Oil
http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/04/01/184227

Untimely Ripp'd writes "The latest issue of Discover Magazine reports
that any day now a plant will go online in Carthage, Missouri that
processes turkey guts into high grade oil, natural gas, some minerals,
and water. Unfortunately, the Discover article isn't online yet, but
    here's a [0]newspaper article. The system, developed by [1]Changing
World Technologies uses thermal depolymerization and apparently works
on almost any and every kind of organic waste. They assert that
applying it to 100% of the US' agricultural waste would produce about 4
billion barrels of oil per year -- about the amount we currently
import. It sounds too good to be true, it sounds like one of those
    fly-by-night-in-the-face-of-the-second-law deals, but it isn't
    happening in somebody's basement -- it's happening in a multi-million
    dollar facility developed with Con-Agra."

do), future emails from that person will be delivered immediately. You
can also specify (regexp) addresses to be immediately accepted,
rejected (with a nastygram) or ignored. The package also includes a
utility to scan your old mailboxes and generate a list of emails to be
