Science and Math For Adults?

and college without a thorough understanding of major scientific and
mathematical concepts. I'm trying to remedy this situation both for
personal betterment and so I can supplement my own kids' education. The
problem is, most textbooks are not designed to convey an understanding
of the subject, but to squeeze in all the 'facts' required by state
law. I'm looking for books that don't just tell me an equation or a
concept works, but also explain *why*. Would you please list books that
have helped you gain a greater understanding of the basic concepts of
algebra, chemistry, calculus, physics, and other core areas of
science?" This is similar to an [0]earlier question, but with a broader
focus.

were held between college representatives, music industry reps, and
online music services such as Apple's iTunes Music Store, Pressplay,
and Listen.com. The discussion wasn't about why they should do it, but
about how they should do it. Per-user licenses or a general fee to

Veejay is a live performance tool featuring non-linear editing and
mixing from multiple sources (to one). It lets you load multiple video
clips or Edit Decision lists, cut and paste portions of video/audio,
and save it as a (new) Editlist. Also, you can create video samples
from clips or tags from (live) streams. With these samples, you can
change playback speeds (slow motion/acceleration), set looptypes, and
set markers. With both samples and tags, you can edit the effect chain
and mix from multiple sources to one. Veejay has 50+ video effects and
many frame blending methods. "Gveejay", a graphical
interface, maps the control keys to mouse-click buttons and sliders.
Gveejay communicates over TCP/IP, and can be invoked from a remote
machine.

POPSurgeon goal is to use an ISP server as backup for emails (or to
remove sensitive email from said server). It achieves this goal by
allowing one to remove unwanted email from the server. The third
release of POPSurgeon is now available. This release allows the
inspection of message by looking at the header, the body or both.
POPSurgeon is a program to perform discrete deletion on a POP3 server.
