Tried it.  My investigation stopped at ... kernel paging fault.  I started 
searching for how to get them to run on Ubuntu 10.04 and/or 12.04 but it 
appears to be a "bit of a mission".
IE, there seem to be many "half-baked" ways of trying to do this.  I was told 
if I could do this for the software guys at work I might get a gold star.

Learning how to kernel debug is too big a hurdle.  This idea is now in the "too 
hard basket".
