Hi Aral, your article is an interesting read, but from what I understand it solves problems with Application classes that extend MovieClip. I have left such inheritance in the past and now it's a little bit harder to understand.
MTASC works very well with the static main entry and I have already integrated it in my EnFlash framework. It has the advantage to be executed on a specific frame number. For example I'm using frame 2 because it behaves better when the app is loaded with a preloader. This MTASC/swfmill combination is great for pure development without the Flash IDE. It opens a great new opportunity for Linux users.
