I apologize, in your original email I thought that you were looking for
an intro to setting up CVS.  If there is already a CVS repository set
up, you'll need to use a CVS client to access it.  There is no mixing
and matching Subversion and CVS.

The only tip I can offer for working with a CVS repository is that
TortoiseCVS is a great generic client that can be used:
http://www.tortoisecvs.org/

I'm sure some other folks around here have used it more extensively.
TortoiseCVS has some decent built-in help, as far as explaining what the
different functions do.
