if you want to start a *NEW THREAD*: write a *NEW* email. *DON'T REPLY* and then delete the body. The *HEADER* will stay the same, so the archives and ... there are archives right ? ... and the digest people can properly sort / read mails.

if you want to *REPLY* to someones *THREAD*, hit *REPLY* (don't confuse this with *REPLY ALL*, *EVER*!) and write your thoughts and comments *BELOW* the others ++. delete sentences that are not needed to understand your answer / comment / thought.

if you want to send links in your mail or *REPLY* surround the with <http://> in some mailers this is respected and the link will even work with linebreaks.

If your mailer allows you to do so, please set your linebreak to more the 72. 100 will do. chances are better that linebreaks don't appear within links.

If you think your mail or *REPLY* will change the threads meaning, be so kind to warn us readers by changing the subject from eg. "Re: [Re:][Re:]Really long thread about Mails" to "!!!STOP THIS THREAD!!!, WAS:Re:[Re:][Re:]Really long thread about correct written Mails"

and last not least: would you please be so kind and write *NO HTML* mails ? in modern mailers like thunderbird [1] is one you can easily turn off *HTML* by setting a domain rule (like if you *REPLY* or *WRITE* a mail lets say to osflash.org, the mailer will set *TEXT ONLY* for that particular *REPLY* or mail)

hey, micha.
I find your email very interesting and instructive.
I'm not an experienced ML user (although I'm subscribed to a few).

I'm always happy to learn new things to make other's lives better.
Learning how to write/reply/read ML's is a good thing for everybody,
hence I'll reply to this in a proper way:
delete what you don't need
keep what you do (if any)

ok. nobody get harmed ? let's move on.

and...
hope nobody got harmed.

have a nice one

ciao.ubi

ps: by the way... did my msg get to you as plain text??? :)
