Hi all,

I was thinking it would be a good idea to set up an Eclipse tips & tricks section of the wiki for people to share their experiences setting up the Eclipse environment for a more productive workflow. There is sooo much information on the Eclipse site itself it is almost impossible to sort between Eclipse development and usage, and naturally most of that is specifically for Java developers, not Flash developers.

For example, I would like to see stuff like:

* Eclipse plugins - Flair to display Flash movies (I use this for the AdminTool), PHPEclipse Web Browser (including info that you only need 127k of the 74Mb plugin files for the web browser - and that it still works just fine on Eclipse 3.1 while the rest of PHPEclipse doesn't), XML plugins, Doxygen/Eclox etc.

* Setting up the workspace (creating projects, linking external folders into the workspace for classpaths etc.)

* Automating common tasks (for example I would love to find a way of setting up a new project which creates src and deploy folders, automatically adding in standard linked classpaths and adding them to the Classpath settings as well as creating the folder link)

* Setting up and using AS2 templates

* Useful keyboard shortcuts (F3 to open a class file when a classname is selected is a killer, I would love to know if it is possible to do something similar by highlighting a method name, even if it only works for methods in the currently active class)

This could be an open area for anyone to contribute to without having to assign anyone in particular to be responsible for creating and maintaining content.

What do you think?

- Scott W
