I would like to see Flames IDE developed as a fully open-source
alternative to FAME/FAMES. As part of this, we need an Application
Panel, Library Panel and a Swf Panel (for displaying resulting HTML/SWF
files.) Although Flashout is great (and thanks to Eugene for making it
available for us for free), it (a) tries to do too many things at once
(and thus has resulting in a mega-panel in Eclipse that doesn't really
fit in with the Eclipse way of doing things) and (b) is not open-source.
The App, Library and Swf panels will contain some of the functionality
in Flashout and will also contain some new functionality but each will
be a separate View in Eclipse.
Also, it would be a good idea for Flames to be released as an
easy-to-install Eclipse installation as well as a plug-in.
I am going to set up separate projects for Application Panel, Library
Panel and Swf Panel as well as add some preliminary designs to the Wiki
for comment as soon as possible.
Who would be interested in working on these projects?
finally i got my smtp situation sorted i can post again. :)
im definitely interested in helping out with these projects.
I also have finally made the move to eclipse 3.1 so i'll be checking
through that simple plugin tutorial i wrote to make sure its still the
same..and updating it where necessary.
i'll write the next part soon, which will cover bundling swf's with
plugins rather than pointing the browser to a place on your HD and
anything else useful i can think of (ideas are welcome)
also, that JSwiff project looks like it will be a useful tool in our
armoury.
:)
