This is not a problem.
This is a feature !

UTF-8 with BOM permit to share your class files with other platform.
But this is one of the good thing only…
Check it out !

yes exactly.
but as i said u can turn bom creation of in the preference.
i debugged the bom thing for some hours.
and u can delete the bom caused by an bug with eclipse intern bom detection (u cant move or copy it, but sometimes overwrite it with operations like document.set(String)..)
in that case the dialog is fired next time the document is opened.
the problem is that the bom detection of the underlying api is private so i cant fix it as easy as i thought.

so if u don't need the utf-bom just disable it
otherwise u have to live with this annoying dialog.

best regards

that means the bom is not detected or saved properly.
u can stop it by unchecking force bom creation in the preference.

Good to know - does UTF-8 BOM creation also explain the extra characters I've been encountering that have been added to the file? (not visible in Ecliopse though, only by comparing, for example file versions through CVS)?

cheers, Martijn.
