Commands have the option of implementing mx.remoting.Responder as an interface. This allows them to define onStatus and onResult to be a true Responder, and using a Business Delegate, they pass themselves in as a responder so when the Business Delegate is done, it can call the appropriate handler. That's about as remoting specific as it can get.
Using the interface is optional, as is using a Business Delegate.
