dmoz is god's own source of google juice. Not only do google make use of the data directly, as noted, but the directory is also mirrored around the web, so lots of additional sites will magically gain links to any listed resource. [This all takes many weeks to permeate, even once you've managed to get listed by the category editor.] Also, if its possible to transform the URLs from the form http://www.osflash.org/doku.php?id=<name> to the form http://www.osflash.org/doku/<name> or simmilar, I think that would be beneficial too as, 1) indexers will tend to limit the number of links including query-strings they they will follow in a row, to prevent themselves getting bogged down (e.g. trapped indexing pages that link to themselves but include a timestamp or GUID in the query) 2) I've a vague idea that some indexers give a little precidence to pages where search terms appear in the hostname / filename part of the URL (not sure if that's still true of google) ta, dave -- http://david.holroyd.me.uk/ _______________________________________________ osflash mailing list [email protected] http://osflash.org/mailman/listinfo/osflash_osflash.org
