As Claus said, that would be a very nice surprise. And yes, the public
alpha surprised me very much, and it is highly appreciated. Alone that
you wouldn't rule it out completely has me at the edge of my chair. :)

Potential users could get their feet wet with the free compiler, and
when a bigger project comes along they might decide Flexbuilder would
facilitate their work significantly. But it wouldn't only lower the
threshold for new and occasional developers who make a conscious
decision to add AS3 to their portfolio, some would learn it to make
desired changes in open-source Flash based applications they use.
Also, should an open-source AS3 compiler emerge, it would be one more
reason to ensure 100% compatibility with the "official" Macromedia
compiler.

Finally, I'd really enjoy pointing Slashdot trolls to the download
page and tell them to try it, since it's a standard based language and
they wouldn't have anything to lose. :)
