I agree, a big question mark is performance. I have been using a system I wrote to render elements on the page from XML. It is slow, and I had the luxury of authoring a very stripped down XML format for the data. On the other hand, having a defined language that is available to the community like MXML is smart backbone for this project, and I look forward to playing with these classes.
