We've started putting together an MIT licensed Python 2.4+ project for
reading and writing Flash related formats: Flashticle.

Currently it's unreleased and still under heavy development, but we'd like
to go ahead and host it here with the rest of the projects rather than
hosting it ourselves. We think that a presence at osflash would encourage
outside contributions and increase awareness.

For those interested in taking a look, the current public SVN repository
is at:
http://svn.red-bean.com/bob/flashticle

Note that documentation and examples don't yet exist in any form, and the
tests are there but sparse.

SVN trunk is capable of reading and writing FLV and AMF and the SOL
container format for AMF. It also has some partial SWF read/write
support, which is what's under development right now. Our use cases
mainly revolve around reading/writing/deducing FLV metadata, transcoding
FLV to SWF, and inserting new tags into existing SWF files.

Other though the AMF and FLV support would clearly be useful to anyone
interested in putting together a Python project for Flash remoting or an
RTMP client/server.

The project is sponsored by Mochi Media LLC; developers of the MochiBot
service for free Flash content tracking <http://mochibot.com/>, and
MochiKit (a JavaScript library) <http://mochikit.com/>.
