This may be a dumb question but why would you want an alternative open 
source Flash Player if Macromedia, I mean Adobe (still doesnt sound 
right) is already building a Flash Player 8.5 for Linux that can run AS2 
and AS3 projects? Especially since every Flash developer I know would 
like to employ the benefits, speed and features of Flash Player 8 and 8.5.

Not that downloading a second Flash Player would bother any linux user 
(Windows users are another thing).
