Mathematical proofs...I guess the basic idea of proofs is that if you have a mathematical idea, you can prove that it's true under certain conditions. Proofs in computer science goes on to include calculating the time complexibility of problems (although it doesn't look as if its covered in the class mentioned). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computational_complexity_theory And I only say avoid them because they aren't too much fun (with some exceptions).
